Technology in the classroom is a great idea and almost essential for our children to meet the demands of the 21st century. However, when is technology inappropriate in the classroom? There are free online polls that can be utilized in a classroom via text messaging. Twitter has also been used in educational settings. This sounds positive. However, this type of technology usage can open up a can of worms in the form of learning distractions. Internet in the classroom can result in children surfing the internet in class or playing online games. Cell phone usage in the classroom could result in children texting messages to their friends during class time. There are many schools that prohibit the use of cell phones during school hours. By doing so, are these schools missing out on an untapped educational resource? Where do you stand on this issue?

Excellent points about the counterpoint arguments. With every new technology, there are some big drawbacks. It is important that we explore these concerns and try to find potential solutions. As for the cell phones, Craik School Cell Phones is an example of a school in Canada (8th grade) where they integrated cell phones successfully in the classroom and were actually able to get rid of the problems they were having when cell phones were banned.
